What's Your Most Memorable Delt Moment?
What moment from your Delt days stands out as more memorable than the rest? Was it initiation or bid night? Maybe it was something simple like the nightly dinners or chumming around with the guys. Either way, you can share it here.
Bob Pfeifer '63 writes: "The Lamp Post Incident, which occurred while practicing for IM football; our QB, Dale Hartwig '62, told me to "go long,' which I did. When I turned to see the ball coming, I continued to run without looking in front of me, so I ran right into a lamp post that I never saw coming. Others on the field saw the collision about to happen, however. Surprisingly, I survived better than the lamp post, which bent, rocked back and forth and dropped the lamp off the top. Fortunately for me, I hit the post along my whole right side and only suffered some bruises and a broken rib. Those who saw the incident said it was spectacular."

DTD Helps Plan Beginning Stages of an Illini Alumni IFC
A few Illinois fraternity advisors and House Corporation officers met to discuss forming an alumni IFC at Illinois and made some great progress. There were approximately 20 people at the meeting representing 15 different chapters. Some of the issues the group discussed included housing, social rules, philanthropy, house rules and uniform alcohol policies. The group plans to be hands-on and collaborative in its efforts. Illinois is a major university and Greek life is rarely a primary concern for it, but fraternities still face many similar issues and struggles as the university that need to be addressed. One of the main goals of an Alumni IFC would be to speak in a unified voice on Greek issues and take control of our own destiny.
